Blanket Stitch Handmade Quilt - Ochre Chrysanthemum with Pink Bengal Stripe
This light and bright heirloom quilt is completely hand stitched by myself at home. The painterly floral print reminds me of chrysanthemum and waxflower and includes colours of ochre, pink and moss green. The contrast backing in a pink Bengal stripe creates a fun mix in both colour and print. Using a variety of quilting techniques makes this a beautifully tactile piece. Running stitches in yellow and white threads run vertically throughout the quilt, and a blanket stitch in the same colour thread beautifully edges the quilt.
Sandwiched in the centre is a layer of premium arctic bamboo batting. Bamboo is softer than cotton, biodegradable and hypoallergenic. It adds extra warmth to a cot, a sofa snooze, and perfect as a play mat.

I believe that transparency plays an important role in modern, sustainable manufacturing.
It took around 14 hours to make this quilt by hand.
There is no branded packaging to reduce waste and when shipping internationally I will be using recyclable mailers.
This quilt is made from 100% surplus fabric I sourced from Our Social fabric.
Our Social Fabric is Vancouver's only non-profit textile recycling initiative. They receive donations of textiles, fabric and sewing related supplies from the film industry, theatre, manufacturing, estate closures together with home sewers and artists. Their team of volunteers sort through the donations and offer them back to the community.
By purchasing this quilt you are making a contribution to reducing waste going into landfill.
Very minimal waste was created from the making of this quilt.

100% Cotton floral pattern print - ochre, pink and moss green
100% Cotton in Bengal Stripe - prink and white
Arctic Bamboo Batting -
Bamboo is one of natures gifts. It’s softer than cotton, biodegradable and hypoallergenic. Blended with cotton, it makes the perfect natural quilt batting.
Chemical Free - Arctic Bambro Blend fibre is mechanically cleaned, without the use of any harsh chemicals
Contents - 50% natural bamboo fibre / 50% Cotton Fibre
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
When washing keep this in mind, wash as little as possible. Your quilt will thank you for not over washing.
Using a mild detergent - machine wash on gentle cycle with cold water or up to 30 degrees. Hand washing is even better
Air dry flat out of direct sunshine or dry in dryer on air dry or low heat setting. Low to not heat is very important. If in doubt, just air dry. Less energy used this way too
It may also be dry cleaned.
